I Hate UPS. First UPS post. A Prelude to all my other UPS posts.
Let’s describe where I live before I start my hatred for UPS. I live in Wilmington, DE – not in the ghetto but the nice part. My building has three units. I live on the second floor. There is a front door which is doesn’t have a lock. Behind the front door is the mail room which has three mailboxes and three doorbells. Each mailbox and doorbell is clearly labeled. The door that leads to the inside of the building remains locked for security issues. The building is next to the finest restaurants in Wilmington. Mikimotos (sushi) is next door. Moving next door to Mikimotos is the best feature of the building.
Anyways my troubles started when I first had a package delivered to my new wonderful home. I was tracking a package on UPS.com after it shipped from tanga.com. I bought a remote control on/off switch for an AC outlet which costs $12, not an expensive investment. I waited for a knock, doorbell ring, honk, anything from the driver to let me know he was here. Nothing. I called UPS customer service and the rep told me no one was available to sign. I WAS HOME ALL DAY!!! The driver left an InfoNotice card on my mailbox. At least he came in the front door. I signed the card and put it back on my mailbox.
The next day I raced home from work to be there when the package came. I called UPS and they said the package would be there by 5pm. I waited til 4:30pm and went to sit outside and wait for UPS. I noticed they put another InfoNotice card. I called customer service and the rep said the front door was lock. I told him there is no lock on the front door and the driver didn’t attempt to deliver. The rep told me he would get ahold of the driver and have him turn around and be at my house at 8pm. I get a call from my local UPS facility. I’m assuming this person is the driver’s manager. The person on the phone told me the driver would come back by 8pm and apologized. 8pm passes by, nothing. I’m mad, the driver just puts those useless InfoNotice cards on the front door of my building and leaves.
Last delivery attempt. I put a note on the front door explaining to the driver that the front door is unlocked and the doorbell works and that I can even hear when you knock on the inside door. On my mailbox are my InfoVoice cards, both signed. 5pm rolls by and I call customer service once again. They tell me a delivery was attempted and that I wasn’t available to sign. That’s a lie. I explained everything I did for the driver to the customer service rep and that I was home when the delivery wasn’t attempted. The customer service rep apologized and said I have to drive all the way to Newark UPS facility and pickup the package myself. It’s an hour drive during rush hour traffic.
I let my package get shipped back and I eventually got my $12 back not including shipping charges. UPS scammed me for my money. Yes UPS is a scamming con artist. This isn’t the only time this happened to me. Four times. Yes FOUR times.
Delivery number two. My attempts to get my packages gets worse. I tracked this next package from UPS.com, it was my new cable modem. The cable modem was quite pricey and I couldn’t let this package get shipped back. So on the day of the delivery I took off from work and once again taped a note with instructions on the front door for the driver. It was raining. The driver put an InfoNotice on top of my instructions. Called customer service and told me the front door was locked. THERE IS NO LOCK. I eventually waited for my third InfoNotice three days after the first “attempt” so I can drive in rush hour traffic for about an hour to get my package.
I do this for every package delivered by UPS now. I am the best UPS delivery driver this company has every seen. They don’t even have to reimburse me for gas. In fact I pay them so I can take a long ass drive all the way to Newark to deliver my packages to my house. I don’t need to leave InfoNotices on my door because I delivered my package by hand.
Delivery number five. This made me want to beat my UPS driver with an AIDs infected bat. I sat outside all day to see what exactly the driver does. Sitting outside all day gave me a chance to learn how to use my new windows mobile phone so it wasn’t that bad. Yay! The UPS truck arrives. The driver walks past me as I sit in front of my building on the bottom of the steps. The driver didn’t have a package, but an InfoNotice already premarked and put it on the front door which doesn’t have a lock. I yelled at the driver and I got my package on the first attempt.
This is my experiences with UPS. Brown is no longer one of my favorite colors.
ps what’s the point of InfoNotice cards if you still have to be there to sign. They never check the box stating that a signature is required. I still sign the card though.

Wow You know I totally know what your going through I have one question I need to ask I has nothing to do with anything but was this guy a white or black guy. I lived in that same neighborhood I think. Either that or we had the same driver. Except I had the novelty of sitting on my couch after work and watching him on my wireless security camera I bought at wal-mart for 79 bucks. My problem was I couldn’t race down the stairs fast enough before he got away. Same freaking deal no package he had already made his mind up he wasn’t even attempting to drop the package off. So on the 3rd attempt I knew I couldn’t race down the stairs fast enough last time i tried yelling out the hall window he kept walking. So this time I threw a full glass pickle jar out the window at him and it smashed at his feet that got his attention he finally pulled the MP3 players ear bud out of his ear & looked up at me as I yelled DON’T YOU F#@$%^& MOVE you M.F,er I went down stairs & outside he was standing right in front of me … All I wanted to do was blast him right in the face for the stupid look he gave me. He says . ” Yo Dog you know that could have hurt me really bad” I said “I know it could of & I’m pissed it didn’t that’s why I used it, Milks too damn expensive. So then I ripped him a new one told him I’m sending 3 videos of him not even attempting to knock on the door to his Supervisor. He knocks every time now. Funny thing is now, every time he walks away he looks up before leaving the steps.
sounds like the same person but i deal with a woman ups driver most of the time. i had a similar problem with a male twice already. I love USPS because they’ll leave the orange attempt card but my post office is a block away on del ave. so no worries there. Fedex always leaves a package except one time, i actually had fun going to their office, so much more high tech
Howdy cheers for this post.
