Roughing it does not always mean roughing it…
Camping in the woods is the hip “new” minimalist way to enjoy a weekend away from the urban rat race or the suburban doldrums.
Getaway is a service that offers off-the-beaten-path rentals that get you away… Let’s be honest, the vast majority out there who say they are going camping are a far cry from pitching a tent in the woods.
This is where Getaway shines. Getaway offers quite comfortable accommodations in known travel locations as well as not-so-known escapes. Recently, this pooper had the chance to stay in one of their abodes in the fine little town of Ottawa, IL.
Staying at this charming cabin nestled in the serene woods was certainly an escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Just like our Chief Creative Poo’s journey to La Moille, Illinois, about 30 minutes from Ottawa, it was nice to get away for a quiet weekend.
The cabin itself seemed rough from the first glance. A black painted trailer, nestled in the wood surrounded by towering trees.
It almost seemed like a setup for a cheap slasher movie. However, upon entry into the cabin, I was greeted by a clean a welcoming room affixed with all the accommodations a “glamper” could desire.
Glamping Provides the Comforts that Camping does not.
The bathroom was a gem within this wooded retreat. It was more than just a convenience; it blended comfort and woodland style. The bathroom adorned with rustic touches complemented the cabin’s cozy atmosphere.
Kudos to the placement of the easy to open window. While the bathroom and shower were unsurprisingly on the smaller side, the easy to open window is accessible while using the porcelain throne. So instead of smelling ourself, a pooper can be greeted by the fresh scent of the outdoors.
Adjacent to the throne is a spacious shower fixed with a rainfall shower-head. The convenience of the shower proximity to your living space offers a rejuvenating experience after a day spent exploring the trails as well as after a deposit in the glamper dumper. The well-maintained facilities certainly add a touch of luxury to our woodland getaway.
Are Getaway Cabins Poopable?
Speaking for the Getaway Cabins in Ottawa, IL, the staff at Poopable have flushed and closed the toilet seat at this locale with a smile. While at first glance, they appear to be a trick placated by outstanding marketing. However upon entry and a night filled with a campfire under the stars, Getaway delivers.
The cabins are also affordable for your average pooper who wants to get away for a vacation to the simple and quiet life. These cabins are not going to break the bank. The locations have similar pricing (if not better) than most mid-to-low range Airbnbs.
So, if you are looking for a peaceful escape and the chance to tell folks “you’re roughing it,” in the softest of descriptions of camping, then add this to the list for 2024.
