Sometimes smell speaks louder than words…
Alright, so picture this; Emily Blunt, the big-time Hollywood star, finds out she’s nominated for an Oscar.
But here’s the kicker – she wasn’t sipping champagne at a fancy party. Nope, she was out there in the real world, doing what any responsible dog owner would do – picking up poop.
In a chat at 92NY, Blunt spilled the beans on this hilarious moment. She admitted that despite all the buzz leading up to the nominations, hearing she was in the running for an Academy Award felt more like a dream than reality.
Despite the fact that Blunt was holding a bag of crap, her career has been the exact opposite. She is one of the most recognizable actresses global.
From her breakout role as the sharp-witted fashion assistant in “The Devil Wears Prada” to her captivating performance as a tough-as-nails FBI agent in “Sicario.”
Blunt has consistently captivated audiences with her depth and charisma. She has also showcased her comedic chops in films like The Five-Year Engagement and The Muppets, proving her ability to effortlessly transition between genres.
Additionally, Blunt has left a lasting impression with her roles in action-packed blockbusters such as Edge of Tomorrow and the gripping thriller A Quiet Place.
“It’s all quite scary,” she confessed. Referring to the nomination not the poo…
“You just try not to listen to the buzz because it can be built on sand sometimes.”
So there she was, minding her own business in Brooklyn, when the news hit her. And guess what? She had a “brief cry” right then and there, with a bag of doggy crap in hand.
But wait, it gets even better. Her husband, John Krasinski, was there too, lending a hand (literally) with the clean-up duty.
No reports on brand of poo poo bag…
After disposing of the evidence, they both had a good old cry together. Ah, true love in its finest – bonding over a bag of dog poo!
She plays Kitty Oppenheimer, the wife of the lead. Blunt really connected with her character, especially the part about feeling like her brain was decaying.
Side note, Blunt almost landed a role in The Dark Knight back in the day… Yeah, she met with the director, Christopher Nolan, but the part ended up going to Maggie Gylllenhaal. No hard feelings, though. Things obviously worked out.
As for future projects, Blunt spilled the beans on possible sequels to some of her iconic films. But don’t hold your breath for Sicario 3 just yet – it’s all hearsay, according to Blunt. And as for directing? Well, maybe one day.
For now, she’s content with picking up poop and chasing those Oscar dreams.
You can catch the full scoop on Blunt’s chat with Josh Horowitz when it drops on the “Happy Sad Confused.” And you can see if she comes home with the ultimate acting prize tonight on ABC. Most experts are predicting that Da’Vine Joy Randolph will win for her impressive performance in The Holdovers, but almost all of them also agree that if there’s a dark horse performance that can come away with a surprise win, it would be Blunt’s work in Oppenheimer.
We wish her luck! And hope she keeps up with picking up after her pooch!
